There is, and can only ever be, one. A prank to rule them all, a prank for the ages. Take a minute for this. Clear your mind. It’s 1953, and General Dwight Eisenhower was just elected President. The Russians just detonated their first atomic bomb,
Senator McCarthy has been elected to a second term. The American witch-hunt for “reds under the bed” - communists embedded into American society - is gathering strength. Amidst all this national angst, fear and dread - a few kids at Harvard are determined to have fun anyway.
Two rival student newspapers, the Crimson and the Lampoon, are having an escalating prank-war The Crimson steals the ‘ibis’ - this dome-ish ornament with a bird on it - that sits atop Lampoon headquarters. One morning, it’s just been disassembled somehow and is gone.

We used to do this all the time, it was loads of fun. At the end of a long flight, as we were approaching our destination, one of us would eject. It was a hilarious prank, the person who did it would get free drinks at the bar all night.
Well, it didn't always work out that way. Ejecting is quite dangerous, with injuries common. So sometimes the person who ejected ended up in the hospital, or dead, then it was slightly less funny. And then there were those times when the pilot wasn't found quickly and froze, if it was cold, or drowned, or just plain got lost in the wilderness.
And occasionally, the wreckage would land on a school, or set a huge forest fire, and of course we thought that just made the prank even more funny!
Seriously? Ejecting isn't like rolling out of bed, it's a serious, dangerous business. It turns out that it is much more likely that a pilot will wait too long to eject, until they are outside
